Developmental disorder define please?!

DD has ADHD but in the last few recent appointments they keep saying she presents with having a developmental delay .Silly question but is ADHD a developmental delay?!

ADHD could result from a Developmental Delay but isn't one in itself as it can be diagnosed on its own . So a child with a Developmental Delay may also have ADHD but a child diagnosed with ADHD may not necessarily have a Developmental Delay.

Ok so just to be clear a child with ADHD would probably make progress?! DD has very slow/no progress over the past few years its like since year 7 she just can't take anything new in and her levels have remained the same from year 7 to year 9.
In primary she made progress (slightly below average but was moving up). Thank you.

Thanks so much really helpful. Been a three years from hell CAHMS has such long waits we are still a long way off but progress not helped by DD being very defiant and refusing to cooperate or even enter the room.So difficult as they get older they just want to be "normal" not that theres such thing ;-) . DD wants to be left alone by all teachers/proffesionals but left to her own devices doesn't get anything done. Such a moral dilemma as a parent .

Oh DD won't engage with tact or manners ;-) I wish. She has been banned from most friends houses for saying "yuk" at their dinner I have tried to stop her but she can't lie so offends many.Never ask her if you've put on weight!But she hates upsetting people so gets quite frustrated!
