Ok, I'm just reading the 'Verbal behaviour approach', before I decide if I want to go ahead with the ABA therapy.

Just to clarify... Mand is requesting? and Tact is labelling?

Ok. The question is this... Why do they need to assess visual performance?, is it an important skill to help the child to communicate or talk?

Sprry if this question sounds stupid, but I'm new to learning about ABA. Smile

Mand is requesting like 'Demand', 'Command', etc.

Tact is to identify and label yes.

I'm not sure what you mean by visual performance however. Do you mean the understanding of symbols or objects?

Early in EIBI programmes often there is a lot of matching, so matching colours to colours or 2d objects to 2d objects and then 2d objects to 3d objects.

If you are communicating through pictures also, it is vital that the picture means to the child the same thing as it means to the person they are trying to communicate with. That also takes training.
