DLA Reconsideration question

We were awared higher rate care back in October 2013 on a 2 year basis, at that point we didn't claim for mobility as it wasn't needed at the time, however a year down the line his health has taken a turn for the worse and We feel that we should apply for the mobility part.

I called the DLA last week to explain the situation and they have sent the forms which arrived yesterday.

Now my question is, and I'm quite worried now, do they out a hold on or stop your current claim if you ask them to look at it again?

I know there is a huge backlog at the moment ( 6 months plus ) and I'm worried I'm going to have the Higher Rate Care money stopped? If they put a stop on the claim or put it on hold I presume I'll lose my carers allowance and tax credits?

Actually it's a change of circumstances isn't it not a reconsideration.

No they don't put a stop on your claim while they are looking at your new claim.

as wine says - your current award stands until they look at it again - I did this last year

I applied for DD when she was 4 and was staggered how quickly we had a positive decision.
