My daughter had a button fitted 3weeks ago. I have been cleaning it with boiled water and tea tree twice a day. She had a swab and it showed some germs and she was prescribed chloramphenicol eye ointment??? Does anyone know.....do I just clean and dry the are and then apply the cream around the button twice a day??? I haven't been given any instructions, just a voicemail to pick up the cream from the pharmacy and now I'm not sure what to do with it!M

Yes clean it with cooled boiled water then dry then apply the cream. That's what i would do (paeds nurse). Don't worry about it being eye ointment, it's the drugs that are in it that are important. I hope it gets better soon x

Yes, don't worry about it being eye ointment.
My wee one has a button and has had this in the past.
It seemed a bit weird at first, but it works!
