ASD Assessments

CAMHS have started their assessment on my DS. Myself and partner went in yesterday for the 1st bit of Phase 1 which was lots of questions about his behaviours. The current stuff was fine but they were asking me about when he was 4-5 years old which I found really difficult (he's 8 now) anyway we did and scored 20, which I appreciate isn't that high, he said if it was 15 they wouldn't continue the assessment.

I came away questioning if I had answered right to some of them. BUT they are doing an observation in school soon, so I guess we'll see what that brings.

I'm very happy though that my questions are finally being looked into Smile

forgot to put my question:

is there anyone out there that has got a lowish score on 1st phase of assessment but has still gone on to get a diagnosis?

Thanks

I don't understand. Are you talking about the ADOS?

sbm78 · 23/09/2014 12:37

I don't know what it was called, they said it was the beginning of the assessment. I had to go in and we went through a form with lots of questions on it about my DS behaviours... the assessor had the questionnaire so I didn't' see what it was called?

he marked down the yes/no answers and then inside were the answers and he added them up to get our score?

Thank you PolterGoose.

So happy that they are going to assess him and I keep everything crossed that we get a diagnosis. Is that strange for a mother to want a diagonsis?

Feeling hopeful x

I wonder if it was the ADI-R?

It's not the ADOS or DISCO, I use both of those and that scoring system isn't familiar to me.

It's not strange at all - you will only get help with a diagnosis. It's the help you need!
