After a really positive appointment with paeds last week (ie. paed believed everything I said), DD (4) has an ADOS booked and in the calendar....on Monday! I was shocked by how quickly one has been scheduled; I honestly thought I'd be chasing it up well into the new year!
I'm so nervous; even if it changes very little in practical terms (DD already has 1:1 for half her sesisons at nursery and they do lots of work on social communication esp with peers), it would make such a difference to me. After speaking to the paed last week and her agreeing there were definite "traits" or at least DD presents "differently" to peers, it felt like a huge weight was lifted. Although support has been in place, it has been a bloody knackering battle to get it and constantly fighting to keep it in place without an official dx from paeds. I know this isn't an end, rather a beginning but keeping fingers crossed it goes well...
The SALT conducting it has met DD before, albeit briefly. I expect they will be able to tease out which language is 'scripted' or does it help to give any info beforehand? There are lots of reports about DD floating around I'm sure they will have seen!
