had a JAT meeting about DS last week and they have agreed to release extra funding for him to have play therapy or art therapy.

only problem is the fact that there are non on the list so we will have to get it bought in....Fine, except we are having real difficulty finding one!

it was felt by everyone that DS's ASD is being compounded by his life experiances ( severe domestic violance that he witnessed) and that theraopy would be beneficial for him in order for him to engage fully with any further treatment he could receive.

i have done a PARIS search but yet to find anything and have emailed them to see if they know of anyone...even if its further afield i am happy to travel, but i think the JAT are keen for it to be local because of funding.

any help would be gratefull received

dear fattiemumma

the best place to look for an approved art therapist is either with the british assocation of art therapists at www.baat.org or the heath professions council google hpc. Baat is the governing body of art therapy and hpc is where art therapists are regisitered as the role of an art therapist is a protected title.

in respect of a looking for a play therapist the governing body is the british assocation of play therapy bapt. Hope this helps and good luck
