DLA - how long does it take these days?

Applied for dd who has autism and sent off the pack and a multitude of reports just over a month ago, have not even had an acknowledgment as yet.

When I applied for ds a couple of years ago I got an acknowledgement letter within a week of toe and a decision on six weeks. Called today and was told it wasn't even on the system yet, a month later. Is this right? Is this how long it takes now? Just wondered if anyone had applied recently and what their experience was?

Thanks Smile

Is this the new PIP you are applying for? There is a massive backlog, I'm afraid. I am waiting to hear about my partner's application and we started the process back in April. One of my mates was telling me about a client of hers who got a £5000 back payment after being awarded higher rate mobility and care about a year after applying. Nice that he got the money in the end of course but people are really struggling while they wait. Good luck with your application.

Thanks. No it's child's DLA, I suppose it must be the same pricess though along with the same backlogs.

When I applied in May this year, they said it could take about 3 weeks to be registered on the system. It did take about this long (I kept ringing every couple of days to check that it had been put onto the system.)

Once it was registered it only took about 4 weeks for it to be confirmed by letter. They backdated it to the date I had rang and asked for the application pack.

I wonder if there has been a slow down due to the summer months? They were always quite helpful on the phone when I spoke to the DWP.

Hope you get good news soon.

If it's similar to PIP then it will take ages - we applied early January, had the capita assessment about three weeks ago and were told it will be another 8-12 weeks until we hear.

Our recent renewal application took just under 4 weeks.

sent in 22 Aug, letter this week saying renewal will take 8 weeks. Or poss up to 8 weeks. Only prob with some delay is Blue Badge due to expire end Oct

Both a renewal for DS1 and new application for DS2 in the last few months were both processed completely within less than a month.
