So, that's that - as well as my ds (6) diagnosed with ASD last year, dss (14) diagnosed last month, now dp (36) too diagnosed about an hour ago.

Apparently there's a partner's support group I can now access. Anyone else around like me? I do also have a NT dd (3) I think!

There will be - I'm sure. I just go to my local autism group and it is made up mostly of women who have kids with autism, so the chances are their partners/families do, too. Go through the NAS and ask - they are really welcoming and helpful. Or type in autism and your local area and things pop up in google.

I only joined this year and it has made a real difference - nice to be around people who get it. I also use Mumsnet and a Facebook page tied to the autism group. All support is welcome.

DD and DS2 have dx, DS1 has many similar traits but is adult and able to survive in almost complete ignorance (DS2 hasn't shared his own dx with his brother, his bro wouldn't understand his need to pursue it)

DH has many traits too, as does MIL
But it's all my 'fault' because DH is step-parent to DSes - I'm the link
I feel almost completely NT but perhaps my autistic trait is collecting aspies []

As soon as my little ds started being unusual at nursery, I wondered and then it became so obvious dp dss was when we went on early bird plus. They were talking about what kids experience and about other less common types of autism presentation. Dp recognised himself and we recognised dss (made sense for first time!) Getting referred for diagnosis came from that for both of them.

I'm ok - dp fine and more positive that I feared. I was more worried it wasn't ASD and he'd still be searching for answers. It hasn't been easy though and we nearly separated earlier this year. I'm going to access the support for me and see how things go...

Jenny - I suspect aspies choose very strong women as life-partners.

Nopink - don't forget it is like play-groups, if you don't gel with the first, or second support group, keep looking: there are like-minded people out there.
