September 14 primary starters! How is everyone feeling about the big leap forward!!

Just thought I'd see how everyone is getting on?

I can't believe it is only 6 weeks until ds starts school!

I am putting the finishing touches to my book all about school, and a book of signs for his ta's. His name stamp has arrived. Uniform has been returned (too big!!)

How is everyone?

Waves at hazey dd2 has a visual timetable for September , if anyone has a child starting on transport fisher price do a lovely toy school bus. We aren't buying uniform as dd 2s school don't wear it which feels a bit strange. I'm slightly panicing about how to keep

dd starts in 4 weeks and so far all I have bought are some shoes

Unfortunately she's just been diagnosed with sleep apnoea and is getting CPAP, if the consultant is right about timing her hospital admission is going to coincide with the first 2 weeks of term.

I'm a little that we might miss the whole first day of school experience.

Oh what's that, that sounds tough , dd2 is going into panda class so I have bought her a panda t shirt and a toy panda for us to make

Can I join? thankfully compared to most of you are problems are minimal but the pre-school have picked up signs of ASD which he is being watched for now so he is finding the whole idea of moving to "big school" (same building, different door) scary. Thankfully the school are great and are aware he is struggling so have sent home a book of pictures of everything around the foundation stage classroom and the teachers for us to discuss ith him throughout the summer.

On top of that we have an assessment with a physio next week about his reduced muscle tone, and have had a number of meetings with the school/school nurse about getting a proper care plan in place as he has brittle asthma so it seems like the preparing for school has been a complicated process thankfully touch wood the school is being very supportive so far

I suppose it is a good thing it's happening this early on. My main concern about her going to school was that she would be too tired to cope so hopefully that won't be an issue now.

Her school is perfect for her, brand new building, lots of space and very accessible perfect for a child with a physical disability. They also have a specialist asd unit which although dd doesn't need that kind of support I am confident that it adds a level of inclusion into the school ethos.

We've had a few transition meetings with DS's new school - he's had a look round and yesterday we had the SAP meeting and he consented to wear his school trousers and was very excited to be there. We picked up his uniform which he was desperate to try on when he got home. We've met the other children in his class and their parents - we're really excited about him going and can't wait to see him make more progress
