Have been waiting for postman for the last few days as am waiting the hear the verdict on whether they have agreed my parental request to undertake a SA...deadline today, no letter.

I rang up to chase and ask if they could kindly put me out of my misery and the minutes of the panel meeting have yet to be signed off by the head of SEN as he's been off on his holidays for the last two weeks! I've been advised that it's going to be at least another week until we have word and I'm pissed off already! Can't find anything about chuffing holidays in the COP as good reason to depart from their guidelines... While he's been off sunning himself, I've been watching my son tie him self in knots over end of term routine changes, be put into a class of 50 kids with no support or understanding of teacher in charge, cry himself to sleep and beg me every day not to take him in...

This is the second child I've had to do this for and I'm bloody tired and fed up already when I'm barely out of the starting blocks :(.

I'm sorry for the self piteous rant, know you will understand...

no completely hear you - ive been through it 3 times now! I got to my deadline and heard nothing - I emailed them to chase it and cc in my county councillor - a day later I got the decision which was a no but at least it meant I could get on with the next stage of appealing it. cynical me thinks theres an awful lot of delaying going on to push things past September 1st. their reason is not one in the COP so the only thing you can do is to complain about the unreasonable delay. how long does it take to sign these things off and why could no one else do it in his absence as this relates to statutory time lines

AFAIK, only August is discounted for deadlines. If this is your second time, I'm sure you know to follow up in writing, now. Dear LA bod... deadline was xyz, following my telephone conversation with Joe Bloggs, I understand that this isn't going to be met because... and I was advised that.... love and kisses, HerNibs xxx

Tell them that the deadlines aren't optional, they're statutory, and if you don't get a decision within, say, 2 days you will be apply in your dc's name for Judicial Review.

Email sent to relevant holidaying SEN manager...I just realised they managed to eek an extra week out of the process anyhow by fibbing about when my original request was received! Good job I sent it recorded signed for and have that evidence saved.

Will give him until Wednesday morning, and then email re a judicial review

Thanks for all of your responses, I know what I need to do, it just really pisses me off that it has to be done in the first place (6months pregnant and hormonal so a bit more ragey than usual too!)
