Ideas on how to stop throwing

DS keeps getting upset when he has to tidy away. He then throws stuff which obviously isn't great esp at school.
Just wondering if you have any ideas for how to get him out of this habit.
We give him visual timer and verbal warning of activity coming to an end and count down.
Thanks

Have you tried having a particular song that you play when it's tidy up time?

What happens after tidy up time? Does he know in advance?

If I was doing something I liked and it suddenly and without warning ended because someone said so and I had no idea what was coming next I'd probably throw things....Grin.

If he understands what is coming next and it is 'sold' to him, and then the only way he could access it was by tidying away previous activity that might work!?

And what Lougle suggested can be hugely successful.

Thanks for the ideas. I think the song would annoy him. He has generally been a lot more accepting of moving from one thing to another but just seems to be going through a bit of a throwing phase. Maybe we should try redirecting the throwing energy.
