Preparing ds for school...

Ds1 has a working diagnosis of ADHD at present. He is to start reception in September hence no formal diagnosis as paed says he's too young but wants to see how he settles into school.

He attends the preschool next to the school and every week since September the rising reception age have been going over to the big school for phonics lesson. Since Easter it kicked up a bit so they go over twice a week and play there as well.

I thought ds was enjoying preschool/school. But last night we had an absolute meltdown from him, tears, screaming, kicking, throwing himself around. All because I'd bought his book bag ready for reception and had it at home. He is absolutely adamant that he is staying at preschool. He's refused all talk of school since last night and hits out at his sister if she mentions it. He's even refusing to go to school to take his sister today (currently lying on the floor screaming). He doesn't go Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please reassure me this will be short lived. Or tips on helping him come round to the idea. I don't want his first day at school to be marred by his upset. Although in some ways it will help the sceptical preschool see what we have to manage at home.
