DS has an Action Junior 3 from WCS and an Independence Max three wheeler we bought ourselves. He is outgrowing the buggy now, height wise as well as being too heavy to push...he's 10 but around the height of a 14 year old. The wheelchair is great for shopping, but at a park, etc. it is uncomfortable as it shakes terribly and is very difficult for him and us to push.
DS can walk, but not long distances. He has EDS Hypermobility and scoliosis and finds the shaking/vibrating/lack of suspension painful for his hips and back.
I have looked at the Advance Mobility Freedom, but it is not much roomier and I think he will quickly outgrow it - and I seriously doubt that I'd be able to push it as I am only 5ft 2 - so we will be limited to only taking it out when DH is with us. And, DS isn't really too keen on using the buggy as he gets older....it does 'stand out' due to it's size. And the hammock seat is not as comfy as it was for his back.
Are there any other options? My mum has suggested a mobility buggy, but I am not sure about age restrictions, DS is sensible but accident prone!
I had thought about getting some chunkier wheels for the wheelchair, but have had no luck finding any with google. I don't know if DS would be eligible for a different type of chair from WCS, this is his second and we've never been given a choice.
Any suggestions please? :)
