Does anyone have any experience? Or understand the procedure?

I have recently had a complaints meeting with three governors, but I am confused about the differences between the way it was held and what it actually states on the complaints policy on the school website.

In the meeting was me and the three governors.
The governors were speaking to HT and other staff later.

In the policy document though, it says the complainant will be provided with either witness statement at least 5 days before the hearing or witnesses will come in the hearing and complainant can ask questions as well as the governors. The HT can be present for whole of hearing or just come in to give there evidence and can again be questioned by governors and complainant.

I am just a bit worried that I have no idea what they are saying and I won't be given the opportunity to disagree with what they say.

There isn't really any universal procedure, but clearly they should be sticking with what their published policy says. Ask them why they aren't.

The Governors didn't follow their schools policy and their responses were based on assumptions and beliefs and did not answer the complaints. The DfE are now looking in to whether they have acted lawfully.

The governors at my daughter's school that should say, sorry.

Are you sure the meeting you had wasn't just to get your statement? If they were going to speak to the Head etc afterwards it sounds as if they were just collecting evidence. Ask for an explanation on what will happen from the Governor who made contact with you. They do have to follow the school's complaints procedures so ask what will happen next.

The meeting was most definitely about the complaint. That was what was discussed. The minutes are headed with Complaints Hearing and the first few points discuss, the governors speaking to all parties and that a decision will he made by the coming week.

I have since spoken to the LA bod responsible for the policy, my understanding was correct and the hearing was not carried out in anyway as stated in the policy.

Once I get a decision. I can now got to stage 4.

Can you go to your LA for stage 4? We had to go to the DfE as no stage 4 at LA.
