All the indicators are there that my 13 year old DD has ASD - either Asprgers or HFA look on the cards from what professionals in health and education are all saying...

Never seen so much consensus in professionals.

BUT - waiting for an assessment will be forever as the local NHS services have such a long waiting list.

Please can you advice any PRIVATE LONDON / SOUTH ENGLAND based reputable assessment places (that are multidisciplinary assessments)

I don't want an assessment that is not going to be recognized and want something that will be respected by NHS / School.

Ideally I want a team who do both NHS and private assessments so if anyone queries it - I can point out that this is the same as we would have got on NHS.

Will obviously stay on the waiting list for the NHS assessment too - I know the drill that you often need both to access services, but for now - I need the wait to be over and to just know where she sits on the spectrum to get her the help she needs.

Please advise?

Going out of my mind and really need to do something and not just wait about.

I could give you the name of one in winchester I wouldn't touch with a bargepole. My original NHS referral was to a practice that also took private clients and they were, frankly, crap with females. I didn't have ASD, I just had severe anxiety and depression Hmm.

The second opinion NHS centre in Southampton had me sussed straight away and I got my official diagnosis in one meeting.

Margo Sharp spent years as my eldest [from 3-19] and youngest son's [4-12]SALT. Her area of speciality is in the communication part of the triad of impairments in ASD. She has worked in tier 3 & 4 CAHMS as well as working with schools who have children under tier 3 CAHMS.

She is very good, I have no idea of costs as we saw her under the NHS.

This Education Psycholgist is very good, knows what it is like to live with kids on the spectrum and specilaises in ASD within education settings. www.drjulieharvey.co.uk/#!about-us/cjg9
