Advise on Dd having an LSA

DD4 has been awarded 25 hours of LSA support when she starts school in September. School have never appointed a TA or LSA that is not a mum in the school although some now have older children who have left the school.

DS has been treated badly by most of the parents of older children in the school due to his problems ie excluded from all class parties, not allowed on any play dates or parties with his best friends etc. DS only actually had his social interaction issues in his first year of school due to an undiagnosed medical problem. He has been fine for the last 5 years but the parents will not change their views. Unfortunately I know from his records that some had even asked for his not to be in school due to hygiene concerns from his wetting (caused by his medical condition). My fear is that one of these mums will be given the job as DDs LSA and I wont be able to trust them as I know they dont have the necessary compassion to work with an SEN child.

The HT has confirmed that she already has people in mind for several new LSA positions so as expected it will not be advertised. Has anyone been allocated LSAs that they are not happy with? Has anyone tried raising it with school?

I presume school don't need to advertise legally. I had hoped they would advertise for someone with the specific experience required and if there was no one then train someone rather than not advertising.

I should be so pleased DD4 has the support as we have fought so hard for help for her but I am so worried for her as I want her to have the best start. My impression is that an LSA has a vital role in DDs first year at school, more than anyone even the class teacher but I have never had any dealings with an LSA so am keen to hear your views on the situation and any advice. Thank you.
