Possible ASD help needed with DLA form

I've posted before about DS who displays ASD traits as well as sensory and co-ordination issues. I'm currently applying for DLA and wonder if anyone could help me with a particular question on the form please?

It's under the section for development and is described as 'learning skills' - I'm confused as to whether this means learning skills needed for life or the skills required to learn and I don't really know what areas of his problems to put in this category if that makes sense? there's 3 other sections of this category which seem to clearly be about the triad of impairments and I have had no problem 'categorising' his problems in these (I think one is about play, one communication and another interaction, something like that)

I've scoured the celebra guide but it appears to be in the format of the 2011 form which is worded/laid out totally differently (gives examples and has less categories) and I have the 2013 form

Gosh it's a mammoth task isn't it? I spent a whole day on it on and off and I've only got to page 10! Grin

any help with this gratefully received Smile

I don't mean the questions are about the triad, just that I can clearly see how symptoms of the triad can be categorised here...I'm losing the plot a bit now Blush

Yes polter that's the one. I'm not in front of the form right now but I believe it has even less 'help' on it than what you've listed there. I'll take a look when I can get to it

ah yes the one you're referring to is the same as the 2011 form I think. The 2013 form says

has the child's development of learning skills been delayed?
for example
*understanding the world around them
*following instructions
*developing daily living skills
or something else

that's the one I'm struggling with. I think the forms are quite different.
The other sections say

-has the child's development of physical and sensory skills been delayed?
-has the child's development if social skills been delayed?
-does someone need to help the child develop through play?

I think these are worded well but I'm unsure of where DS fits into that first question. The tick boxes from the form you have help elaborate a little...I suppose it's better to repeat myself than miss something out!

I can't believe how different the forms can be Shock

Just thought...I think things like social cues/taking things literally might go into this box, what do you think?
