I love Mock the week, but have to turn it off when FB is on. which unfortuanatley is most times.

How the hell does he get away with so many disablist ''jokes''?

Russel Howards not much better either.

why is he on tv and why? I mean, why?

Im sure even a couple of racist ''jokes'' have spat from his lips too.

I think FB makes his living out of saying things that are taboo. It isn't just disablist stuff, some of his comments are racist, sexist etc. In that sense, he doesn't discriminate. I don't think he actually believes any of the offensive things he says.

I am not sure why you have 'posted here for traffic', sn children is usually a place for support advice a bit of ranting and celebrating achievements. But FB is an arsehole of the highest order, I don't know whether he believes what he says or not, but the arseholes chuckling along at jokes about disabled children do.

MakeMineaMartina · 14/05/2014 19:16

he doesn't discriminate? yet the studio audience at MTW seem to love him.

same with Clarkson.

didnt want to post in Chat or AIBU as on this site we are all parents/carers of disabled people/children, therefore, more understanding.

unfortunalelty not everyone is understanding.

I don't know whether he believes what he says or not, but the arseholes chuckling along at jokes about disabled children do.

Totally agree. I think the problem with his jokes is that they validate the ignorant opinions of people who already think like that.*

oh ffs.
its HERE on this site as he says things (old episodes granted but 1st time Ive heard them) about disabled/sn children (Harvey Price etc).

this is a SN board, sn parents/carers are on this board to share/rant/discuss etc/.

Im ranting and expected a bit of agreement tbh as I certainly get offended on behalf of my child.

I never post a goady thread.

You'd have been better off in SN Chat as that is what it is. This board is more serious - how to get help, fight tribunals, deal with diagnosis. A post like this, whilst containing a valid opinion, can seem a bit frivalous when dealing with the stresses on here.

It's tricky, isn't it? I'm not sure I want to be thought of as 'traffic' tbh Hmm

What would you like us to do with this information you're giving us? Would you like us to try and get him sacked or taken off air for old episodes of a satirical comedy panel show? Mock the Week is about mocking anything and everything. I'm normally one of the first to jump up and down about disablist/racist/homophobic/any other ist/ic jokes, but to be honest, with programmes such as Mock the Week/HIGNFY, etc., satire and derision are the mainstay of the programmes.

I love Mock the Week and it makes me properly howl, so I'm content to block my ears and sneer with distaste if panelists use humour that offends me because it's relatively few and far between. Perhaps that says more about me than it does about Frankie Boyle, but there you go. I'm content to be hypocritical in this instance.

If the episodes were recent and a large proportion of the jokes were aimed at one sub-section of society, I'd be right behind you.

In fact, I have to defend Frankie Boyle a bit here (surreal...never thought I'd find myself saying that).

  1. Frankie Boyle hasn't appeared on Mock the Week since 2009. Reruns of shows he appeared on are out of his control.
  1. Frankie Boyle sued the Daily Mail after it claimed that he was forced to leave MtW because he was racist and a jury found in his favour. He then donated his damages to charity in its entirety. The Guardian
  1. He pays his taxes, he's overcome alcoholism and drug addiction.
  1. He's not even on current TV any more.
