Hi has anyone else had a situation where the school have marked a child absent, but the school books actually show the child in school ?

Haven't experienced it but it could be an admin problem where your child is marked absent if they are not in the classroom for registration and not registered as late.

The school have declared it as an authorised absence and given an unbelievable reason .Not a late issue at all

Seems odd - I have experienced falsification of registers but that was to make the school's attendance figures look better. Your experience would make the school's figures look better Confused

Hi we had this a few times last year, DS was put down as late/absent for the first part of school 5 times although he actually entered the school at the correct time through his usual door (not through reception where he would of been recorded as late and reason why by myself), entered the school in his line with the rest of his class. The only thing I could think of was that he wasn't in the room when the register was taken, which is beyond my control really Confused. We too had all of the work in the books to show DS was there, but the letter from the school regarding DS's lateness/absences did piss me off somewhat, I have a very low tolerance of lateness so chances of my DC being late for something is NIL.

Maybe a quick chat with the HT may resolve this issue or failing that could you not arrange an appointment with the CT and HT to 'look through' your DC's books and query how he/she could of been absent? Then any admin issues can be corrected?

Oh forgot to mention my DS has Asperger's so I pointed out that he may need more support in the mornings to get him into the classroom for register or he was avoiding something...he hasn't been late/absent since.
