Centiles in Ed Psych report

Can anyone explain to me what centiles measure in an ed psych report. The reason I ask is that ds had none measured in his, so I assumed that it would be something that would happen when he starts school, however a friend showed me her ds's report (same age, same ed psych) and there were centile scores.

I could ask the ed psych, but it would probably be easier to get in touch with The Wizard of Oz.

Dd did not have any in her report just before starting school either. The EP wasn't able to do a formal assessment on her (she would not engage at all) and only did an observation instead.

Ds did not have any in his EP report recently either. He could not attend to any formal assessments and was just observed too.

Thankyou, maybe that is why then - Ds would certainly not have engaged with any activity she tried to do, so I guess it was all based on observation.

I've never had any centiles reported in any professional assessment/observation done on dd1. I've often wondered why!

I think, overal, it is because she is so far behind developmentally that centiles are not relevant, iyswim. eg if, when she was 4, she had been delayed but operating at age 3, or even 2, then centiles measurements would have told us something - how common (in basic terms) her difficulties were amongst her age group. However, she was nowhere near those levels (she is 9 now, and only functioning at age 4 in some areas still) and so she would have been sub 1% on just about any test done.

Not sure if the lack of centiles was to spare our feelings or not, but they really wouldn't have added anything at all.

whereas dd2, only recently assessed for the first time age 7 (high functioning AS), had centiles all the way through her report, as it either highlighted how far ahead she is, or how shockingly low her centiles scores are given her ability levels - there is a point to them being included, iyswim.

We had vineland behavior adaptive scales percentiles in two reports from David Urani.. Very dismal but atleast we know how bad it is

Story-teller-LA-EP does none.

Statement has those percentiles in Part 2 now

Just saw SALT, and she said that she was unable to assess centiles as ds wouldn't engage with her. She said that his centiles would be assessed at school when he is more able to engage in an assessment.
