Hi everyone im new and after some advice...
My son, Jake, is nearly 7 and was diagnosed recently with noonan syndrome and is quite delayed with his learning.
The school have has the ed psych to assess him and are in the midst of applying for a statement (they werent going to and I was going to myself but have since changed their minds) They are sending the application on monday and im trying to write a parents letter to go with it but dont know where to start or what to include can anyone help? Thankyou so much in advance x

Hi fluffball. The first letter is really quite basic. IPSEA has some template letters you can adapt. Basically, you're just saying that your DS has x diagnosis, with y needs and that his needs cannot be met from within the school's own resources and are going to remain for the rest of his school career.

Thanks lougle :) thats brill, glad you said that as was going to launch into everything probably writing a novel lol. Ill have a look for templates im usually really good at this stuff but my brain has got total block xx

Just looking into it more, im not actually sure where the school are in the process, im assuming this must be them asking the la to assess jake but actually he has already been assessed by the ed psych who said school should defo apply :/ x

OK, the Ed psych can either be called in by the LA because they've decided to carry out a statutory assessment, or called in by the school.

You can apply yourself, then the school would he asked for their views. That way you're in control.

Ive asked the same questions on here in the past few weeks. Consensus of opinion is to apply as a parent. Actually school have said it's quicker if we do it and that seems to be what people on here think too. Also if you apply the LEA has to keep you informed and you are in control as mentioned above. For me this is better.
