Hi we have an option to see a private consultant from The Priory however, he is a pyschiatrist. Is he able to assess for HFA and associated difficulties/co-morbids?? Sounds really good but dont want to throw money away if its a waste of time. We will be seen at Litfield in Bristol

He's an actual doctor, so would be better qualified than, say, a psychologist. Both the boys had a multidisciplinary assessment on the NHS and DS1's included a psychiatrist, since the possibility of ADHD needed to be explored. You need to find out at a first meeting if he is willing to involve other professionals in order to get the bigger picture of your DC's difficulties.

Yes, my Dd3 was diagnosed by a psychiatrist. She had reports from other proffs too and we had lots of appointments at camhs before we saw her.

She did a disco assessment with us too.

Good luck Smile
