DS does this with Sausage,chips and burgers not quite as "varied" as Sams special diet but i know that he does this when he.s particularly anxious and our boys are so much alike do you think this could be the reason?

What a strange choice!

My ds is just as bad, pasta..pasta..and more pasta. I've jus had to fill out a food chart for the week for his dietician to see if she can come up with some ideas for him. It's worrying isn;t it?

Lots of sympathy though. Ds2 still lives mostly on dry bread.

My DS is down to bread and dairlylea (and ham-somtimes!)plus cereal and milk at the moment. Like Jenks DS, mines diet gets more and more restricted as his anxiety increases. At the moment I know he is getting worked up about the return to school!

I think it coincided with the buying of school uniform, so I know what the root is.

I sat down last night and went through nutrition with him, after 3 days he is now agreeing to eat a diet of scrambled egg for breakfast, lentil soup for lunch and chicken skin with cabbage and potato fordinner which is a VAST improvement but still alcking in, for example, calcium.

oh what a nightmare, been there done that, am so eternally, forever grateful to the school for sorting it out. Our worst stage was bread and butter, cheerios and nothing else (so going gluten free meant we could replace the bread with gluten free bread but the cheerios with nothing so we cut his diet by half).

I think the key is to try and get them to take the tiniest tiniest amount of something else. School started by taking a crisp (which was back on the menu by then), breaking it into quarters and adding the tiniest bit of baked bean sauce to one quarter. Once he was taking that without too much fuss they moved eventually to one baked bean on top of the 1/4 crisp. Then they replaced the crisp with mashed potato. Now he will eat things like bolognaise and rice (and I grate veg into it). Often the first mouthful is hard to get in- so its a case of "big mouth then button", once he's had the first mouthful he gets a choc button, then usually he'll start eating more easily as the meal progresses. 19 month old ds3 feeds himself, 7 year old ds1 really requires full on 1:1 to help, usually with us feeding him.

To get from nothing through 1/4 crisps with baked bean sauce to eating what I would call a proper meal took over a year. School really spent every lunch time for a year working on it. Luckily it then generalised fairly easily to home.

I had been planning to send Sam school dinners this term tobreak down the cycle, but they can't guarantee his dairy free diet (well they say they can, but he was eating custard and all sorts, and his eczma got really bad)

I am off to BIBIC in October and will chat to their nutritionist, generally he listens more to BIBIC than me.

The other problem apart from school looming 9we bought a lottery ticket for the first time ever today, in the incredibly unlikely event of ever winning he gets a home tutor) is those 'fit club' ads on c-beebies: he sees those as the rule book for healthy eating, and has become paranoid about eating. . he lacks an appetite anyway, and his bones are now sticking through enough that they rub on his clothes.

Don't they do that on a pizza at DOminoes?
We have huge food problems with a very repetitive diet. DS's school (ABA school) has tried to deal with it on 2-3 occasions and couldn't get anywhere!
