Can anyone tell me what sort of stuff will my 14 yr old ds be asked in his forthcoming ADOS assessment? Is it just a series of questions or will he be asked to do tasks also?I'm just curious really.

Dd3 is 11 and she has just had an ADOS, she was being a guinea pig for a clinical psych who is learning how to do them. Dd3 already has a dx of Asd.

She had to make up a story using figures and talk about how the figures were feeling and she also had to try to answer questions about her own feelings. At the end she had to use objects to make up a story, she found that really hard.

That is about all I can remember as I was sitting in another room but with the connecting doors open.

Tbh I dont think it would be a good idea to tell your son too much anyway because itmight effect the results but at least you can tell him its not an exam type thing.

I thought it showed Dd3's impairments in communication and imagination brilliantly.

Good luck Smile

Thanks ineed. No I had no intention of prepping him for it..I was just curious as his anxiety levels are so high at the moment that a simple barrage of questions/answers might be too much for him.I was hoping it would involve tasks like you described.Thank you so much for that.Very helpful.Smile
