dd2 isnt using her hands properly. constant hands up plam flat, fingers splayed all the time. only picking things up with her fingertips. wont even clap properly.

what can we do? she wont even hold my hand again, something we worked on last year, and managed by wearing soft gloves, then her without gloves, me with fingerless gloves. took months and months of gradual contact to get her holding hands again.

I have the same problem with my ds holding my hand, he says my hand smells But as it's so important to hold his hand near roads he will allow me to hold his wrist, especially if he's wearing one of his wrist sweatbands which prevents my 'smell' rubbing off on him, or so he says.

yes i hold her wrist or get her to hold the buggy, usually she will use one finger.

Ds1had/has very sensitive hands. He wouldn't let anything touch the palms of his hands and so would pick everything up with his fingertips.

We did things like giving him objects/materials with different textures. The pre-school also used to fill the sand-tray (which he loved) with different things - porridge oats (dry!), cornflakes, soil etc.

The day he touched shaving cream for the first time is one that I will always remember.
