Ds (15, AS/ADHD) had his first day at local sixth form college's A level taster days. All went well, had a great time, and we were chatting about it while we ate in the evening - the lessons, tutors, other kids he'd met etc.

Then he announced "I'm looking for a female so I can breed". Dh and I almost fell off our chairs :O. Then the penny dropped - ds's head has moved on from college chat and is back to playing Pokémon

Blimmin' aspie brains Wink

He's having a ball Smile.

These are preliminary taster days, 15 one-hour subject lessons in three days, then in July there are two days of more focused lessons on the subjects he'd choose for A level, half a day on each.

I'm chuffed that he managed the non-academic bits too. He was offered the uses of the Learner Support room at lunch time but stayed with the others in the refectory (he just read his book, but that's fine), got on ok with moving from room to room and didn't freak when there was a fire drill in the last session. Came home on the bus by himself, and has gone on his own this morning. To me, those bits are just as important (if not more so) than the actual lessons.

Such a relief when they manage something big, isn't it?
