Autism screening help.

My son is 2 and a half with suspected autism. (I'm currently trying to have him screened, but nobody seems to be listening to my concerns. Me and my whole family know that he is different and are trying to get help.)

I've raised my concerns a few times with my HV and local children's center staff, all to no avail.
What ways are there to go about having your child screened for autism? Do they need a referral from your HV? Or could I just go straight to my GP?
My experience with the HV's in my local area hasn't been all that great. They just seem to want to get things done quickly and move onto the next person.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm starting to feel like no one will listen to me.
Thanks.

Try your GP. Ours refered our son to a community paediatrician.

Or phone CAMHS yourself directly - in our area you can self refer and take it from there, but I'm not sure of that's the same everywhere.
And so much good luck - we have found it an incredibly challenging process, no linear progress, professionals disagreeing, fudged diagnosis, daughter totally confuses and upset. Hideous time. You're doing really well to be on the case already though - my dd was nt diagnosed until she was 11!
