Asd son craves noise!

My ds is almost 4 with low functioning autism. He absolutely loves noise which is great. It obviously makes life a little easier. He particularly loves the hoover and lawnmowers. He comes with me to pick my dd up from school and stims like mad when the bell goes. Anyone else?

My DS is the opposite...low frequency sounds (hoover, road sweeper, lawnmowers) used to be really disturbing to him.

In fact, we once had a train pass a mile away over open countryside and he was utterly terrified, as he couldn't perceive where it was coming from.

He seeks high frequency, rhythmical sounds (music, 'screechy' voice) particularly when he's off colour.

Sensory processing difficulties are common with ASD.

DS1 craved noise, when he was a toddler - then became hypersensitive when he started school. Probably because he was already getting too much noise, so it sent him the other way.
