Facilitated Communication

Our OT has recommended looking into Facilitated Communication with our non verbal 4.5 yr old.

Does anyone know how well schools take it?

Sorry I don't know about facilitated communication but just wanted to say hi

I think you would be better off seeking a SALT opinion. Facilitated communication can be problematic as there is always an element of being unsure exactly how well the child is expressing their own needs. Plus, it's only any use if there is someone around able to do the facilitation, so it does nothing to increase independence.

Are you sure that was what was suggested, rather than assistive communication?

There's a SALT called, IIRC, Gillian Hazell who is up on this. Maybe contact her?
