Any experience of Proloque2go

For 5 year old with cerebral palsy and poor hand movements. Also very poor speech but good understanding.

Can it only be downloaded onto an ipad (goodbye ipad!)

Can the same copy be used on different machines, like the touch screen monitor or do we need to pay for 2 copies.

I've seen this used and it's good , where I've seen it used has been on iPads so don't know if comes in other forms .

I have it on my iPad and we are part of the Proloquo centres program. It is an app that is usually put on an iPod or iPad or iPad mini. These devices are usually the easiest to operate, rather than android. One you have bought it from iTunes, if you have more than one device, eg iPod and an iPad, then as long as they are both linked to the same iTunes account then you can pay once and have it in both devices. Have you looked to see if there is a centre near you so as you could try it?

Hello Sneeze, we are waiting to see an AAC SALT to discuss what apps are available - she mentioned proloquo and grid2. Do you think your ds's SALT could refer you to one?

I use Proloquo2go with many children of different ages and communicative abilities. We evaluate its use formally, taking data on usage every day (no anecdotal evidence suffices for us) and I have been extremely pleased at its ease of use, flexibility, relatively low cost and massive reduction on preparation time, compared to PECS (which I also rate extremely highly.)

Therapy Box are great and run free roadshows up and down the UK on a weekly basis, so go to one and talk to them and try the equipment out. There is no sales pressure and they are very friendly as well as being excellent at what they do.

My only sadness is my main contact there, Russell Smith, has left, but good news is he has set up his own company and I trust Russell 100%. I will be doing most of my work in this area with him from now on, mainly because he can deliver at a fraction of the price.

His own personal circumstances are extremely interesting too. He is an inspiration in every sense.

Thanks you so much, it does seem like a good easy to use app. I have ordered a refurb ipad from amazon just for him to use so I can keep mine exclusively and take to school.

I will be looking at the comparisons and recommendations and get salt involved to see if she's happy with it. I wouldn't want everything school is working on to be disrupted. They are doing a pec type thing. They also have a laptop which won't be apple I think......but that probably won't matter.

Got to us at the weekend when he was distraught and in pain but couldnt communicate it was pain in his feet caused by pushing against the foot restraints on his school chair.

I will email the company with my questions and look to see if there is any centre nearby to discuss the app. Also therapy box . Love the fact that proloque2go has a little English boy voice and not an American robot!

There is a free trial of one similar to pro. and DGS pressed 'again' smiled at us and said again! One of his few words, but the penny dropped immediately.

A fabulous tip I've just had is if your child trails his hand over the screen interfering with what he wants, cut out a finger from a glove (or old sock) and problem is solved!

There are many different things you can do in terms of size of pictures, spacing, outline, pressure needed to choose them and so on. Russell can show you then all in about 10 minutes.
Russell also knows much more than most s/lts about this stuff. If I needed guidance on this stuff, I would club together with like minded folk and hire Russell. This is, in fact exactly what I do do.

We are going to nadex in may so may hold off buying til then, but I want it done yesterday as so little progress, but now have more ideas.
