Hi tyedye, make an appointment to see your gp and explain your sons symptoms and the gp should refer your ds2 to a paediatrician.

My son was 8 when he was diagnosed with ADHD, let the school know of your concerns and they might refer an educational phsycologist to observe him.
Good luck

Hello tyedye, hope you dont mind my input,
Have you spoken to your sons school? First thing to do is make an appointment with your GP, ask them to refure you to the behavear clinic of the local hospital, also make an appointment at the school and talk to the head and the senco, see if they have any concerns, also they might be able to help speed up appointments etc.
Also PLEASE do your homework here as my ds1 had a classroom assistent in reception class who branded him ADHD and we took him for all the test, turns out that at 4 he was on par with the 8 year olds and was boared NOT ADHD, although we are still jumping through the hoops as there are problems with him and after ruleing out many things there are still some to look in to.
But please make a appointment with the gp and talk to the school to get the ball rolling, also there are some very good book, "kids in the mix" deals with a wide spectrum of things like ADD, ADHD, Toretts, and is worth reading.
Good luck
