Feeling really overwhelmed as panel said yes to assessment and we are going to trial EHC plan. I was expecting a no. I wanted a yes but now Im overwhelmed that we got one without a fight. That means they agree that the problems are such that she needs it Sad Sad Sad

Oh well done Smile It's horrible that these things are needed, but better to need it and get it than need it and get refused.

Well done Smile

Yes I think after reading the trials of people on here I was expecting a knockback and a fight. The yes took my breath away.

I think part me hasn't really accepted the diagnosis or that mainstream secondary isn't working. It is all tangled up with all my feelings Confused . Thanks for understanding.

Oh that's good! I like the new EHC plan, and the Person Centred Planning meeting is a great opportunity to talk and explain your child's needs - far better than the Statement way.

Great news Smile

Brilliant. Well done.

I like the look of the EHC process and Im hoping I wont be disillusioned - they have asked us to start with writing what is working and what is not working. What would make life better and what would it look like if the support was right.Smile thanks for support.

I found the person centred planning meeting very useful. I got the chance to dispel a lot of assumptions people had made about ds, which they were basing next steps on, and which weren't appropriate at all. On paper I wouldn't have got that opportunity so by the time the meeting was over everyone knew the hard truth about ds and were better placed to make realistic recommendations for his future support.

If you can, try and send in feedback of the process, particularly the positives. It will help them improve their practice as well as build a good relationship with you.

Yes I have offered to be involved in their research. Let's hope I have lots of positives to report on!!! I think person centred planning will be really interesting if it happens as it should Grin and hopefully the plan will be useful.
