Any mums on here with kids with behavioural difficulties in Year 11?

Care to join me for counting down the days till they leave? Just 8 weeks left providing he doesn't do anything too extreme and get excluded !!!

Full time college which is only 3 days so hoping he may enjoy it more. What about yours?

Oh - he's a lot older than yours and now looking for a job.

Hope he like college. It's very different to school - much better!

Horrendous! Too much to go into in detail but ended up with DS suing and winning.

Job search has been going since Oct. No interviews yet. Sad

Good for you. School or should I say schoolS have been awful for us too. Just trying to stay sane these next few months. Does you son have a diagnosis? If so do you have a local Remploy? I know they help people to find work but they must have a diagnosis of something.

Yes, Aspergers. No, nothing like that local to us. NAS have Prospect which helps people find jobs but only if you're in Scotland or Ireland Sad

Don't get me started. I'm so angry about the lack of opportunities for young people. They have taken away their support for them, insist they get a job and there just aren't the jobs out there!! Angry

Our experience of FE was actually very positive. The college had a very good learning support team. Have you made contact with them yet?

Not yet just done s139a. We just need to choose a campus. He wants to go to the campus farthest away. Think he wants a fresh start. I'm just praying he comes into his own once he leaves school. I may be deluded lol, but I'm really hopeful!!!

Don't blame him wanting a fresh start - he's probably sick fed up of the tossers he went to school with.

Does that mean he would have to live away from home?

Oh no, it's a local college just a bit further away. 2 bus rides rather than a 10 min walk. He's hopeless at getting up so Closer would be better, but I need him to enjoy it so may let him go to the one further away.

Wow! 2 bus rides would have been too much for my DS!

It sounds as though he's going to acquire some useful independence skills.
