What do LA do for SEN children that are Excluded?

Just that really....
If permenetly excluded due to unmet complex needs - are LA obliged to find a placement for the child in a 'suitable' school immediately?

We are looking at special schools to name on the statement having agreed current school cannot do any more to support needs, but are literally at the start of the process of visiting the options offered by the LA.
DS may not last as long as we need to vist all the schools and determine if any are suitable.

After 2 weeks they are obliged to provide home tuition from a undertrained inexperienced part-time teacher who couldn't hack it in the classroom who will take out all of her frustrations on your child.............

Unless home tuition is going to be long term (where you can eventually get some quality by trialling, complaining, trialling next, complaining etc... I would make sure the LA knew that you are aware of the entitlement but not actually dig your heels in about getting it.

In our area they are meant to provide alternative education provision within 5 days - usually a short-term placement at a pupil referral unit. At the moment all places are full so they are providing 1 hour tuition a day at home apparently. Hence we agreed to a reduced timetable for ds2 rather than the exclusion. There is meant to be a revolving door at the PRU with new placement found within six weeks. They went over both deadlines for ds1 though....

looks like having a job will be a little inconvenient for those parameters.
