Hi, my six and a half year old son was diagnosed recently with ADHD. He is on Equasym slow release (20mg) on school days. It started so promisingly but suddenly seems to not be taking effect. Has anyone had a similar experience? Also I don't know anyone with children with ADHD and would love to know if there are any support groups in Surrey. Sometimes it would be great to chat with people who understand the ups and downs of daily life, school, social relationships etc. I have a lovely boy but life is a rollercoaster sometimes! Any advice/pointers welcome. Thank you :-)

Hi Charlie! My ds (10 yrs) dx ADHD when 7, not medicated though. Take a look at the Adders website with list of local groups … here: www.adders.org/englandmap.htm#Oxted

Hi, I have twin boys aged 9 who were diagnosed with adhd a little over a year ago. They are on slow release 40mg but they do weigh roughly 40kg. The dose is based on 1mg/kg. it works brilliantly while at school, but home life is a different matter.
I hope you can find a local support group- there isn't one near me (Midhurst, West Sussex) and it is very difficult talking to friends about it, so it is isolating. I am totally with you on the diffs of daily life, other kids have 'naughty behaviour' but my boys simply can't help it. Please do message me if you lf you like and good luck.
