LEA now agree to assess

We received a letter from the LEA saying that they are now going ahead with SA.

We were turned down at the beginning of October and asked to resubmit this month. Our case has not gone before the panel again but it seems the LEA have reconsidered with no explanation.

Thanks for all the help and advice I've received over the last three months.

Well done Smile

... but what happened between October and now?

They think you will be so happy that they have finally agreed to assess that you won't ask why the fuck they didn't do it in the first place and not need/want an explanation. Angry

But pleased for you Smile

Sounds like they wanted to push into the EHCP timeframe.

Possibly a good thing now we are so close.

Nothing has happened, no change since October. It was only last week that they were trying to push his case into the panel at the end of the month rather than the beginning because they wanted the full six weeks from submission.

They received our tribunal attendance form last week. They would be struck out from the tribunal because the didn't bother to send in any information at all Hmm. I'd imagine that this was a major factor in their decision.

Ah, so you appealed and this is what happened?

Well done! Must be something in the air this week!

JJXM · 16/01/2014 23:09

starlight I am only assuming it was because they received the appeal paperwork with the list of witnesses on it. But it is a guess as they've given no reason for their decision.

2boys I saw that your LEA have agreed to assess rather than face a tribunal. Congratulations! But it is sobering though, when only 1 to 2% of children need a statement and our sons have such needs that they fit into that category.
