huh?

I've requested a change of placement. God knows where this will lead...........

One thing though, this LA have so far been at least 'engaging' and schools round here don't take kids they don't want and the LA doesn't force them to.

Oh ok, good luck then, when the case officer makes up his/her mind!

Good luck.

Thanks. It's a bit scary leaping once again into the chaos, but that isn't a good enough reason to ignore DS' needs. I think the time is right for all of us.

"schools round here don't take kids they don't want and the LA doesn't force them to."

Please don't tell me this is serious?? It's a direct breach of the Admissions Code. If a child has a Statement and the school can meet need, then the LA must name the school (as long as it doesn't hamper efficient education of other children/reasonable use of resources is met). If the LA names the school in the Statement, then under clause 1.6 of the Schools Admissions Code they must admit him.

I think if the parent insisted, they would have to. What I mean is I think it is easier to get a wanted special school place, as the LA won't insist a school that doesn't want a child, has to take them against their AND the parents wishes iyswim.
