After a rough and confusing Autumn term I was convinced there was definitely going on with my year 1 son. He's been referred to OT for possible SPD by the school. This Christmas break I have noticed a LOT more eye contact from him. I'm noticing because during term time it was really fleeting. With SPD I'm of course wary it's really ASD. He always has played really well with his younger sister and is currently with her pretending their beds are pirate ships. They have paper hats and requested I make them treasure chests. They have "swords" (paper tubes) and have battled with imaginary badies and now have taken their treasure. This all would indicate "just" SPD right? I'm so confused.
My other issue is considering his stress level is high enough during school that his eye contact and other issues are way worse should we consider home educating him? Or is since he does cope and the school has things in place for him to concentrate better is it better to leave him there so he can be exposed to the people, chaos and noise. He doesn't have melt downs etc, it's more like low level disruption from him and an inability to concentrate. He is not like this at home. Thanks for any advice.
