regression or something else?

I'm looking for some advice about DS1 (2.5) as I think we have to try and get him some help. For a while now, I have been umming and ahhing over whether he might have an ASD. Over Christmas, he seems to have totally regressed though, which is heartbreaking to watch.

He's been very withdrawn from anybody other than me, my partner and his little brother this past week. However, things have taken a turn for the worse in that he actually seemed frightened of me this morning. He did the thing that he normally does with strangers and refused to come into the living room, just kept calling for Daddy. He's warmed up a bit and he was talking to me before falling asleep cuddled up to me about an hour ago but I'm still very concerned.

Does this seem like a normal symptom of regression? He kind of seems as if he's regressing and improving and then regressing again almost hour by hour if that makes sense. He also seems very pale and tired all the time. I have booked a dr's appointment for Thurs, and we are trying to get an ABA programme in place as soon as possible, but do you think there could be something medical going on as well? There is some epilepsy in my family so wondered about that.

definatley get him seen to by a doctor. My son has asd but i mistook regression for actual infection many times when he was younger.

My Dd3 can be like that when she is unwell, I dont mean just a cold or something. She had a UTI this time last year and became very withdrawn.

Her body just doesnt seem to cope well with being ill.

I would definitely take him to the doctors.

Do you have an Out of Hours surgery you could take him to??

thank you for the responses. He perked up a bit yesterday afternoon and seems a bit better today but I'm still going to take him to docs later on.
