hello, I was wondering if it was the case for any of you as I am possibly contemplating trying a move over and have some questions about practicalities, school, etc......thanks!

We dont live in France but have family there as dp is French. They seem to have quite outdated attitudes to asd there and I am not sure that there is the same right to a mainstream education. Personally unless I had plenty of cash to pay out for private therapy I would not consider living in France with my two dc who have asd.

Plus schooling In France is very traditional in its methodology compared to the UK so am not sure how this would suit your dc.

No personal experience whatsoever, but from what I have read views are as cansu says very outdated, they still subscribe to the 'refridgerator mother' theory.

there used to be a poster here who was living in France with a Dd with Asd.
I think it was briochdoree
no idea if she is still around but might be worth running a search or sending her a PM. iirc, she was quiet happy with the provision over there.

I was shocked the first time I read about this. Awful isn't it?

I think the video to the film they are talking about is in my link, I watched it in horror!

As difficult as things can be over here, I am glad I'm here and not in france.

Thanks for all your answers. I agree, horific method. I think methods are changing over there, therapy was lead by a psychoanalyst and thanksfully more and more this is invalidated. I think for me mostly would be could I be free to home educate in peace as I know schoo is compulsory whilst here education is compulsory, but not school.
