Annual reviews in special school

DD's annual review date is next month, but she only had her last annual review in March, when she was in year 6 mainstream primary. Obviously a special school has a lot of statements to review each year. Has anyone else had this happen, annual reviews make me nervous. But at least i'll be able to request a couple of things.

We have just had ds1's annual review which was only a couple of months after issuing the statement BUT they wanted it done early because of transition to secondary. It went fine because we and school are both happy about his progress and provision at the moment.

We are happy, the school have never put any concerns in her home to school contact book. Our main request is when is salt coming in?
Last night she got an class award for effort. We would also like regular homework, based around what she has learnt in school. As her brothers moan, why have we got to do homework when dd rarely gets any. As trying to do similar things in workbooks is a battle.

Late to the thread but we have found at ds's school that the timing of annual reviews changes as they mkve thrlugh the school. DS had his y10 one in feb and had his y11 one yesterday!
I am not sure if this is just his school or the way the LA arrange them.

DD has had her statement since yr 4, so have done several annual reviews but i still get anxious before each one. I normally sit there and not always get my point of view across or i end up the loosing it.

Annual review are arranged by the school. There has been a national change in funding which in our LA.area has brought everything forward.

Take in notes with you as to what is working well and what isnt.

This is normal although would have thought they would do it next year in March but different LAs have different requirements. We had our son's year ten one in November then his year 11 one while he was in year 10 in June because the LA wanted all ones which had transition (in our case sixth form provision) in before the August panel meeting.

I assume the statement was amended when she moved schools? Sometimes they have something written in requiring an early review, presumably to assess how she's settled in.
