Anybody been successful in getting an allocated disabled parking space outside their home for their child with ASD? Not sure how/where to start

Do they have a blue badge? It is the council that would allocate a space however it would not be exclusive for your dc anyone with a blue badge could park there.

call the local council, if there is not adequate accessible parking nearby then they should look favourably on any request.
Soontobesix is right though it would be used by anyone with a blue badge as on a public highway they cannot reserve spaces for individuals

We were successful in getting a disabled bay outside our house due to ds1's autism.

He does have a blue badge and high rate DLA but the main reason we took this further step (and why it was granted) was because we live close to an international sports stadium and on match days there would be no parking available within reasonable walking distance for ds1.

Anyone with a blue badge could in theory park in the space but it hasn't happened yet. It's unlikely to be a problem most people would accept that a bay outside someone's house is necessary for the person living there. We would never ever park in a bay outside a house.

We kicked things off by writing to the highways and planning dept of the council and it took 6 months from the initial letter to the painting of the bay.

I have seen allocated spaces with the badge number on them....not sure if they are "very special " ones though ?

Thanks for the advice everyone. To be honest I don't think we will be allocated one but it's worth a try
