In the process of rewriting ds's statement and would like some advice please.

LA EP tried to assess ds recently, however all she managed was 4 subtests before she had to stop due to ds becoming distressed. So composite scores are pro-rated. He scored verbal composite score of 30th centile and perceptual reasoning composite 87th centile. Ds achieved his highest score on spatial reasoning, it doesn't give a centile or composite.

Last complete EP assessment ds had was in Feb 2011. She identifies that ds has a 'uneven profile' of performance with scores ranging from superior to bottom end of average. That he has 'very uneven' attainment in literacy etc, etc.

Can I use this information in ds's statement, seen as no other completed EP assessment is available?

or am I better off going along the lines of most recent EP has identified similar difficulties to 2011 EP?

My DD was described as having an uneven profile. This is stated on the statement but then describes why, giving examples of where she struggles but also thrives. I have not got a copy of the statement with me but will have a look and sent you some examples. I helped to write the appalling statement we started with.

Thanks haveacuppa, that's very kind of you. The problem im faced with is that I have no up to date assessments, as ds was too anxious and got distressed, so it was impossible to assess him.

Reading the last EP complete assessment from 2011 it is very obvious that ds still has the same difficulties now as he did then. I just have very limited up to date evidence to back this up.

Im wondering if LA will have to take notice of the last complete assessment from 2011, particularly if I can school to back up that they too still see the same difficulties highlighted in it?

Just a hunch, but I'd use the subtest scores as they are (can't make composite scores if a full area hasn't been tested) and follow in parenthesis with the composite 2011 scores for comparison, if they show a consistent pattern.

And, of course, the fact that your DS was unable to complete the whole battery of tests is significant and should be noted.

Thanks Ouryve, that is what I did after reading your comment.

2011 EP describes an 'uneven profile with a complex pattern of strengths and weaknesses, showing significant need' and 'a very uneven profile of performance in literacy and maths'

I don't see how LA EP can ignore this in her report and LA not mention it and try and pretend everything is fine based on 4 subtests and the fact that ds got so distressed no more assessment could be done and go on to report what school say his levels were at 9 months previously to EP assessment!
