Tribunal date is in - bring it on!

Having seen this in writing I feel quite empowered. I have nothing to loose as ds has nothing in place. Crapshoot IEP at sa+ but no external bobs have ever been called into school for him. Is is year 1 and can't learn. He has no nhs diagnosis. I suddenly don't feel like I care. I will fight to the bitter end but all possible outcomes are only for a crappy provision I feel from my experience so far of having a neuro disabled child.

I want to get a indi ed phycologist in as I have lost my faith in education. How much should one cost?

Also school link suggested I do a CAF form - will this really help anyone? Also to get everyone from the school and nhs involved in his care around the table. Is there any point? No one will turn up and I will get the usual 'he's a complex case, lets wait and see' tosh.

It's too hard to believe in this process any more.

good for you! you are your childs only advocate in this crazy excuse of an education system. what is the tribunal for refusal to assess?
have you sought any legal advice re indi reports? if you are entitled to legal help this could cover the costs.
in my experience an indi EP assessment and report ranges from £500 as a baseline to £1200 incl travel fees etc.
good luck!

Lea said he had a glowing report from school - but it really said he was failing.

He has age appropriate langagage - but indi report put in at 1% and 2.5 years delayed.

They ingnored his physical issues ( SPd and dyspraxia).

So I feel they have no chance of winning but in reality if he was in a vegetative state the lea would say he was on par with peers based on some made up report.

Parent partnership told me he should seen a ed pyhsc after being in sa+ for over a year? I need to phone them again.

The lea keep giving me more rope to hang the barsteds, I just don't feel I can get close enough to put it back round their necks

I'm guessing OT costs would be similar to EPs - ours was £500 + travel for the standard evaluation and report. More work would be needed for her to be used as a witness at tribunal, so that would cost extra. We're Oop North, where fees are probably a little lower than in, say, the SE.

he's a complex case, lets wait and see

In that case...

why is he complex?
If his needs aren't simple, then how can doing nothing be justified? Surely more needs to be done to untangle the complexities and establish priorities in his treatment and education.
What would the expected outcome of waiting be? Fairy dust?
What if waiting brought no improvement? Or inspiration? This is a boy, with needs, not a set of statistics to hum and har about and then simply shrug off because no one understands them.

Do the CAF and get gobby.

Im already quite oppinionated more knowledgable and quite the gorilla mum

If I wait they hope maybe his brain will re wire and will be cured - maybe a modern day sait can come across him and cure him?

Will the CAF help? Or just try to paint me as a neurotic mum who caused his problems?

I don't like CAFs. I find they are used to gang up on the parents and pass the buck around a never-ending circle, as well as a delaying tactic.

2boysnamedR · 08/11/2013 16:33

Thanks star - from what I have read on here before CAF seems like a blame game. I need to do some research. I don't really want more faff at this stage just a dx and some help in school in the form of a baseline if his needs

You don't need to do anything. Its now over to the LA to write a defence. Sit tight and wait and see what that says before you give them any more info.
Don't worry about the CAF if they intend to fight it they will be sending people to see you.
Any chance you are eligible for legal aid?. If so that will pay for reports.

2boysnamedR · 08/11/2013 18:29

No I don't qualify for legal aid - just. Both me and dh work. I will use ds dla money to pay for a ed phyc report. I think he needs that now more than putting it away for his future. I used it to pay for his slt report as well as his ot equipment.

Will I see the lea defense? I did write and complain to his case worker in detail about why I'm appealing. She told me she was just a admin worker and not involved in the process or on the panel. She was refferi g my questions the head of special needs at the lea. In amazingly he didn't get back. What a Shame as I was looking forward to a fairy story with a happy ending where ds lived happily ever after hearing how "boringly normal" my child is

Yes, there are timelines and the LA has to respond by a certain date with there defence/paperwork/reports they rely on.

It wouldn't make me wonder if they back down before the heating though.
