Apparently our local Odeon cinema will admit one essential carer accompanying a child with special needs free. According to Odeon it is not a general policy but at the discretion of each individual cinema....

perhaps your local could do it to... and you could tell them that you know of some who do allow this.....

UGC at Sheffield (Meadowhall) does the same. I don't know whether this is the policy of all UGC. You can only get 'carer goes free' with in person (not internet)though.

Because of this, DD and I got into to see 'Finding Nemo' for under 4 pounds when it was a Teacher Training Day after the October half term last as we got in before 2pm and it was a weekday. And there were only four people in total in the whole room (comprising of us and a grandfather and grandson) so it didn't matter if we made a noise!

At the Odeon in Rochdale where we used to live, I was told to ask for the 'X seats' (which are the accessible for people in wheelchairs seats). These are normally right at the front but handy if you need to make a lot of toilet trips. I don't know if this is still the name for such seats.

Mencap in my area sometimes do special viewings. Cheaper tickets, more lighting left on and no trailers. The last film they did this for was Nemo.

Not cinema, although I'm interested in that info. When my son went to the London Aquarium the other day he and his carer got in for £3.50 each and no queueing, apparently it was really busy. Their website says you must have proof but they didn't actually ask for anything.

maybe we need to start a thread that gives up info like that for eachof us to access...

Excellent idea to have a separate thread. Should we put it here or in the new days out section? I don't mind doing it and boiling down what we've got here so far.
