This thread is for anyone interested in the Tinsley House programme. All welcome!

A brief synopsis of stage 1 of the programme can be found in the books "is that my child?" Or "the brain food plan" by robin pauc;

Stage 1 of the TH therapy consists of:

  1. Daily Multivitamins
  • Omega
  • Zinc & Magnesium
  1. Healthy eating
  • High protein, low sugar, no artificial sweeteners, additives etc.
  1. Specific neuro development exercises done 3 times a day
  • Takes about 4-5 mins

And that's it smile

Stage 2 involves computer programmes to sort out eye tracking and convergence which over 80% of children with reading/writing problems have.

Hello!

I am taking my daughter to Tinsley House in a few weeks. I wanted to check in with all of you to see if there were any updates. I'm really hoping that you've had success with TH.

My story is that my DD is six years old. She went to a very academic school where they insisted she had dyslexia. We had a three hour assessment done at a specialist school and they concluded she was extremely unlikely to have dyslexia. I took her to an optometrist who said she has problems with tracking and convergence, and he prescribed some glasses to correct the problem (he said it's corrected in 90% of cases). She has had the glasses for six months and there hasn't been any improvement. She can read ok, but her spelling is awful.

It takes her forever to write things out and it has really knocked her confidence. We've moved her to a less academic school, and she seems happier, but still says that she feels embarrassed when all the other children finish their writing work far before she does. I feel awful for her - she never wants to read a book and whenever there is writing homework, she cries and cries. She does advanced math and science homework, but I need to read the instructions to her. I am praying that TH can help her read/write better...

Thanks in advance for any replies! xx

Hi, I'm wanting to connect wtih people who are going/have gone through the Tinsley House programme. My DS is 4 and is struggling with behaviour issues at school, but they are reluctant to diagnose him at such a young age. I suspect he may have ADHD, and/or sensory issues. I like the Tinsley House approach and that it tackles the problems from a different angle. It would be great to hear any success stories :)

mumworkingovertime · 05/02/2018 17:48

Hello Miranda, Lenks

Looks like you are both starting off on your TH journeys now!.

I'm a year into it for out little one. I think you need to think of this as a long term approach, not a quick fix as Robin says there are more symptoms than just a single one such as dyslexia etc.

We are doing well, sometimes if feels 2 steps forward and 1 back but we're happy we went with it. it takes a large commitment from the family and a level of compliance from kids.

TH is part of large puzzle and you need to think about the foods kids are eating. I am learning about the gut brain connection now and it is fascinating.
Let me know if you have any specific questions.

I would also be interested to hear any recent stories having just discovered this even exists!! Reading the tinsley website it is very jargon heavy but I get the gist that it's a complete life style change supplemented by vitamins and minerals, I didn't get into the website too much to see any mention of cost I guess they provide the supplements and info for a charge??

We had our first meeting at TH last Friday. Our son has just turned 6 and was recently diagnosed with Tourette’s. It’s been really hard seeing him with some of the more visual tics recently so we are really hoping that TH can help in some way.

The ideas make sense, but it’s hard not to be somewhat a skeptic. Still we are starting the journey with the stairs excercise and the hemi p work.

I will keep you updated about how it goes, and I would be really keen on hearing from others about their progress.

Gordonbennit · 18/02/2018 07:20

Thanks miles123. I think any all specialist has offered my son is medication - which I really don't want to do, iv been scared off by too many suicide stories from the U.S. I think all parents would like to think this approach works Flowers good luck Flowers thanks for the reply xx

Miles123 · 18/02/2018 21:37

Hi Gordonbennit, its a bit more than just supplements, there are some physical exercises and a computer programme that we are doing (only for a few minutes a day), but I think the emphasis is around a clean and healthy diet. I certainly want to keep away from medication if possible.

If anyone on has has a child with Tourettes (or OCD and\ or sensory processing issues) and have been through TH it would be great to hear your story and (hopefully) progress.

Miles123 · 06/04/2018 21:12

Ok, so I thought I’d put an update here. We have been doing the excercises Robin suggested at our first meeting about 2 months ago. I can’t say that I’ve seen any improvement in charlie’s Tics or moods which is disappointing. Some of the tics he has had have been particularly bad and at just 6 he is becoming more self conscious about them which is tough for him.
Anyway we went back to Robin today for our 2 month check up. He did a number of tests and says that Charlie has made improvements and has given us a few more excercises to do.
I don’t know whether this is going to make a difference but in the absence of anything else we will keep going and hopefully see some improvements.
The things Robin talks about makes a lot of sense but whether it’s going to make a real difference to my child is yet to be seen.
I will keep posting updates for anyone interested. If anyone else is going through this please let me know how your journey is going

We took our DS for a few years to TH. ASD traits. In short, no improvements. R. Paul kept saying “once we get to the stage where we will be changing the function of the front of the brain, we will see changes”. We didn’t. He then said, “when he gets older, he’ll probably mature”. At no point did he say that his treatment may not work. We felt so sad about it as he made us so hopeful. He told us that our DS had made improvements when he performed the tests, but this never showed in any real way. He told us that there had been huge improvement in tracking, and that he was normal now. An ed psych report identified this as a severe weakness. When we asked R. Paul, he said that the ed psych was actually talking about “tracking” but something else. It made no sense whatsoever and at this point we lost all faith and stopped. I have no doubt that his treatment works for some, but it’s clear it did not work for our DS and R P was just not honest about it.

nellieellie · 08/04/2018 00:56

Oops, meant to say RP said the ed psych was NOT talking about tracking, but something else.....

Miles123 · 14/04/2018 13:01

nellieellie - Thanks for sharing you story.

As I say I’ve not seen any change but I’m still holding out hope to see some improvements at some point. The truth is that there doesn’t seem to be many alternatives around- NHS and CHAMS don’t provide a great deal of input/ help, I guess because there is no ‘cure’, I just feel I need to be doing something.

If anyone has any other experiences with TH, or indeed seen improvements elsewhere it would be great to hear about them.

Sparky17 · 15/04/2018 19:58

Look up vitamin D3 and autism...also Engaging Eyes which is a software programme to help correct eyes...these may be of help/interest

abc12345 · 04/05/2018 09:58

Hello, tinsley house people. I was just wondering what you guys give your kids for breakfast?? Do you do high protein low carb?? I can think of bacon and eggs or fruit and yoghurt but I was wondering what you guys do? I think sending my son to school after a big bowl of carbs might not be doing him any favours and I’d like to see if diet makes a difference...

MissB78 · 13/05/2018 16:06

Hello everyone. I have just started the TH program and would love to know breakfast ideas that are low carb high protein but vegerterian options (No eggs or fish) thanks

sunnyst · 27/08/2018 00:15

Hi, just wondering how those who started TH this year are getting on? We started 6 weeks ago and have seen small improvements.

Ithaca15 · 06/09/2021 10:20

I was wondering if there was anyone out there who is following the TH program, we started around 8 weeks ago but not sure if it is working. My DS has ADHD (not officially diagnosed) but have only seen minimal changes and in the last 2 weeks a regression in both his writing and focus. Trying to be positive but would be good to hear what other people are experiencing.

My DS is 6 years old and has started Y2.
Hope someone reads this thread xx
