I'm fighting to get Dla for my Ds 4.9 as he has suspected AS/ADHD .
I've been told to do a comparison of what extra needs Ds has & how he is different from children who don't have special needs but it have just realised that I don't know as Ds is my first child so I don't have a clue Confused Sad

This is a fantastic detailed guide www.cerebra.org.uk/English/getinformation/publications/Documents/dla-guide-web.pdf

Presumably he goes to school if he's 4.9? Look around you. Every situation that you struggle with, look at what other children are doing around you. So, if you struggle with walking in to the classroom from the car, look and see if other parents are doing the same things.

For example, when we used to walk home from preschool, all the children would walk nicely and be home in 20 minutes. We would be home after 45 minutes because DD1 had to hug and kiss every bin on the way past and do roly-polys on every bit of grass she saw.

I have to literally drag him bribe to get him to school & use a little life bag as he runs in the road or just runs off & doesn't stop like Forest gump .
He swears & hits me at pick up time .
All the other children go in & out nicely , apart from this im stumped Sad

Do all children scream/kick/bite/hit/swear/break everything & never ever sit still ?

Sorry i know i sound stupid , We just cant/dont socialise with anybody due to his behaviour , can't even leave the house as im scared what will happen

So that's what you write. You know that children are taught at school with 1 teacher for 30 children, possibly with a TA in the morning. If they were all like that, they couldn't have that ratio.

You write down 'When I take miniheadsspinning to school I have to do x, y, z to keep him safe. If I didn't do x, y, z, he would run into the road causing danger to himself and others. Other children his age walk calmly by their parents' side on the approach to school. Other children do not need x, y, z to keep them safe.'

If you google early years development tracker you should get some idea of where he is developmentally in comparison to his peers.

Thanks Lougle I wrote that when I first applied & was told that my Ds was a 'normal lively 4 year old & all children behave this way'
Which is why im stuck
