williams syndrome

HI- My 8 month old has just been dianosed with this....keen to talk to anyone to have children or who knows children with this syndrome.

I met a lovely boy recently, about 10 years old, who has williams. my dd2 in particular found him delightful! I think I read an article on it recently, will try to dig it out.

Am a bit pushed for time just now but my daughter has noonan syndrome which is often mixed in with williams syndrome at first as the conditions have some similariteis
I found mumsnet asking the same question you are asking now.

Hello I know two people with Williams syndrome - so can tell you a bit about what adult life is like with Williams syndrome

One is called Victoria and the other ...............

we have two children with williams at my girls special school, a girl and a boy, both are very chatty , they both get on better with adults than children, and both have curly hair!

Hi- thanks to you all that posted. Since first being told that my son had ws i realised that I know a lady with this- cant believe I didnt make the connection. She is actually the first WS adult to have a child in England (so Im told!) her lo also has WS but is the cheekiest little thing youve ever seen....! He goes to the same nursey/school as my son. Ive been doing alot of reading the past few days and dont feel so bewildered by it all now- still scared butits a little less daunting.

Ive worked with kids and adults with special needs for years but I never thought that it might be my own one day......!

Reading about WS he doesnt have most of the characteristics or traits but I guess that that they change with time.

Thank again for all your posts and piffle- I would love to email you and as soon as a get a few mintues I will.

Just saw this - have an acquaintance in the UK who has a son with WS as well as a daughter with down syndrome. I worked with her on a parent group. Her contact in on this thread

Ruth - you could try Contact a Family too. Also see if there's any support group (e.g. on Yahoogroups) for WS.
