Ear defenders?

DS went back to beavers after the summer break. He's always enjoyed it, well the collecting of badges side of it and it's usually quite structured.

Last night it was a "welcome back" party. We walked in and it was so loud, boys running around, playing football, shouting and laughing. DS just shrank and clutched his teddy he insisted on taking.
Anyway, I got him settled and left him with a helper.

When I picked up they'd been doing karaoke and party games. I asked if he'd had fun. "No, too noisy" was his reply.

I'm wondering if I should get him some ear defenders to take for if it gets too loud in future? I'm worried the others would take the mick out of him? I doubt he d care to be honest but I do :(

We've no diagnosis as yet and I'm worried the leader won't wasn't him yo come anymore if I tell her my concerns about him.

What about spongy ear plugs - less conspicuous and won't block the noise as much as ear defenders, just dull it slightly. Ds uses plugs and they give him reassurance and a sense of control.
Have you asked him what he thinks?

He says he'll feel happier if it's not as noisy.

Also forgot to say - give him something small that can fit in his pocket - blue tac or something furry a sensory thing iyswim. When the noise builds and he pops the plugs in, tell him to squeeze/rub the sensory object.
My ds uses blue tac, the aim is to kind of distract from the noise overload and over time focus the senses to the nice overload. Over time I hoping that my ds won't need the plugs and the distraction of the blue tac will ease his noise anxiety - hope I'm make sense.

We practiced at home, by turning music and tele on loud as my ds is very visual and so the practice helped him remember what to do.

He often takes a soft toy with him. Says he feels safe with one so he'll cuddle that when stressed.

Your poor ds. Hopefully Beavers will be quieter next week. I have ear defenders for my ds. They are very big and noticeable but they do seem to work.
